Trampoline Accident!

Last night Luke and Kaycee were jumping on the tramp. Next thing we know Luke is crying. Sure enough he was bleeding like crazy from his mouth. John ran outside and there Luke was with blood everywhere and missing a tooth. Turns out he and Kaycee were playing a game that a neighbor taught them called Tractor Tripping. The object of the game is to trip the person you are playing against - no matter what you do to make them fall. In the process Kaycee's knee whacked Luke right in the mouth. It was a hard hit. After a trip to the emergency room (recommended by our pediatrician)and to the dentist he is going to be fine. We thought he would lose his 3 upper teeth but in the end he only lost the one that was knocked out. His gum has some cuts and is really bruised and black and blue today. He can't eat anything hard but he will heal. Thanks heavens it was his baby teeth - it could have been so much worse and we feel very lucky. The hit also loosened 2 of his bottom permanent teeth but the dentist is going to keep an eye on them and thinks they will be OK. Believe me, the picture below does no justice to how gross it really looks.
Kaycee, of course, was the "forgotten one" for the first little bit. Her knee was bleeding and now has 4 teeth marks and 2 bruises. After John left with Luke she was crying and felt bad - like it was her fault. Once I explained that we didn't blame her and that accidents happen, she felt better and wrote this letter for Luke (he has a fascination with sharks).
A wonderful neighbor brought over these delicious cupcakes (a surprise F.H.E. treat)and they were just the thing to help Kaycee feel better about the whole thing. Thanks Brandi!
Now we've got a cute little "Hillbilly" boy. Between the under bite, the lost tooth, the loose tooth and the tooth that was pushed back, I think I'm going to start calling him "Jed".

No more Tractor Tipping!!!

Happy Easter!!!

Meet our bunny April. She has been a member of our family since July 3, 2008 when Luke caught her in a rodeo arena during the kids rodeo in my parents hometown. As you can see she is big, white and fat and she looks just like the Cadbury egg bunny - so she's perfect for Easter. We actually have no idea if she is a boy or a girl but she looks like a girl so Luke gave her a girl name. Rabbits are pretty good pets. April lives in the backyard (on the side of the house) year round and she doesn't need a lot of attention. Just food and water once a day. April will bite you if you bug her and if she's not in her cage she's eating my flowers. She also has managed to escape from her cage several times but is never hard to find in the neighbor's yard because she is so white. The kids do a great job taking care of her and it's good for them. We had a lot of fun dying and tye-dying Easter eggs this year. They turned out really cute and the kids had a blast!

On Easter Saturday our neighborhood has a huge Easter egg hunt that includes lots of eggs, candy and prizes. All of the kids love it. At around 8:55 in the morning you can see kids lined up at the windows and doors of their houses waiting for the 9:00 car honking to signal the start of the hunt.
Eggs were hidden in our front and backyard.
After the neighborhood hunt we headed over to John's Aunt Darlene's, for the great Adams family Easter egg hunt. There are always tons of people, eggs, toys and candy.

All the children's baskets are full by the end.

It's always fun getting together with all the cousins.
The Easter Bunny comes tomorrow. I wonder what he'll bring . . . .

Weekend in St. George

Kaycee had another dance competition over conference weekend. This time it was in St. George. We headed down on Friday afternoon. Everyone kept telling us we were so lucky to get out of the cold. Here's the thing: it was still cold in St. George too. We drove through snow and on the slick freeway to get there and then it rained all day on Friday after we arrived in St. George. Saturday was sunny but windy and chilly. As we came home Sunday it looked promising to be a good day. Here are a few highlights of our trip.

On our way in we stopped to look at the house my parents are building. They have decided to live in St. George during the cold winter months. And right now is a great time to build and buy there. Their house is looking fabulous and I can't wait until it's finished and we can go and stay with them.

Under Construction - getting close to being done!

Kaycee didn't win queen this time. She won first attendant. So no crown this time but she was totally fine with it. She did a good job and I am so proud of her. She got docked for doing double turns. She's never been docked before. When we were all walking into the gym for the solo awards a random dad (of a girl on a different dance team) came up to me and said "Was your daughter the one that did the cowgirl solo?" I said "Yes" and he said "Her dance was so cute. She is a good dancer and she did such a good job. It was my favorite dance out of all of them." I thanked him and of course felt very proud. Receiving that compliment was better than any award. Her team took 2nd place on their Jazz and 4th place on their Lyrical. The judging was weird and terrible to say the least. St. George has never been our best competition but we still have fun. She had lots of family there to support her and that was the best part!

Luke and Kayc

Kayc and Me
I love this picture of Kaycee and Sydnie's floating heads
Grandma and Grandpa B., baby Raleigh, Uncle Blake, Aunt Brooke, Aunt Isabelle, Luke, John, Cousin Tyler and Kaycee
Luke got a hold of the camera and took these funny pictures:
Aunt Janelle
Grandma C.
All the family that came were such troopers to sit through 15,000 dances and wait while they announced the awards. Not pictured are Uncle Adam, Aunt Jen, Cousins Dallas, Celeste, and Hollie and Grandpa C. Thanks for your support everybody!

Saturday after competition is when the fun really began. We hurried back from team awards and headed straight for the pool along with many of the other dancers. The kids had a blast (it was way too cold for me to swim) and we finally had to drag them out of the pool so we could eat dinner. We went to yummy Outback to eat - love their bread! They took forever to give us our food and we were starving. After that we headed over to my dad's cousin, Randy's, house (my second cousin?) for some Karaoke fun. He has a music library with over 2400 songs programmed in it. It was so fun! I sang and danced to a lot of fun songs like Shania Twain's "Man I Feel Like A Woman" and Barry Manilow's "Can't Smile Without You". I have a terrible voice but I'm not afraid to belt it. We took turns and sometimes all the girls sang together and all the boys sang together. I was lucky enough to have a charming rendition of George Strait's "I Cross My Heart" sang to me by John. He actually has a good (but untrained) voice and was given several compliments. The night ended with all of us singing George Strait's "I Just Wanna Dance With You" while my parents danced. They've still got great moves and that song is one of "their songs". I was so mad I forgot my camera and Brooke couldn't find hers. This picture is compliments of Blake's iPhone and is not the best quality but it works. Thanks Brooke.

We stopped and visited with my friend Kelly on our way home on Sunday. We got to see her beautiful new home. Kelly was my roommate at Ricks. She came to our apartment my second semester at school and she is still one of my best friends. We've had a lot of fun times together doing exciting, dumb, funny and crazy things. She is now married with 4 kids. Nowadays we see each other maybe once a year and I'm hoping that I'll be able to see her more now that my parents will have a house closer to where she lives. It was fun to catch up and let our kids get acquainted.
