So Far This Summer

We've had a crazy summer so far. I don't remember what a normal summer is like. Here is a quick update.

-LUKE has been playing coach pitch baseball which he absolutely loves and is really good at. I feel bad because he's had to miss a lot of practices and even a game with everything he's had going on.

Luke also got braces and a spacer (a huge metal thing) in his mouth at the end of May. Two days ago he had to get a headgear which, thankfully, he only has to wear to bed at night, every night for about a year. We tell him he looks like someone from Star Wars and he thinks it's pretty cool. The good news is that his underbite is already almost gone and he gets his braces off in 5 weeks. I am glad that he won't have to live through jr. high and high school as a metal mouth like I did.
-KAYCEE has been busy having fun with friends, swimming and just loving a break from dance and school, etc. She is growing up too fast.

Kaycee and Luke spent a week with Grandma and Grandpa B. after my surgery and had a blast. They love going to grandma and grandpa's house. They always get spoiled. They rode 4-wheelers and horses, went swimming, went to the movies, went to get shakes and went bowling. Thanks mom and dad for being so awesome with my kids!!!:)

-NATALIE had a hysterectomy in the middle of June. It was fine at first but I had no idea how hard it would be to get over. I am still recovering. I am thankful things went well and that it's over and I am so thankful for all of the love and support we had from family and friends. Thank you so, so much!!!

On the bright side I was able to attend the premiere of Eclipse with my friends last night. It was wonderful! And so far it is my favorite of the Twilight movies. The characters looked better and the whole thing was more believable than the others. If you haven't read "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner" I highly recommend it before watching Eclipse because they incorporate it into the movie.
-JOHN has been my lifesaver during my recovery. He has taken extra good care of me (and the kids and the house) which only makes me love him more. He has been playing softball once a week with his yearly team and he has been having fun. He's also working hard at getting in shape for our upcoming Bear Lake trip. Lookin' pretty darn good to me.

Life has been good to us and I really can't complain. We feel so blessed! Happy Summer!!!

Kaycee took a tumbling class from her dance studio this year. She did awesome and got her round-off back handspring.

Memorial Day Fun!

We had a blast over Memorial Weekend! Our good friends, Ryan,Christine, Dallon and Mason, came down from Idaho to spend the whole weekend with us. Ryan and John have been best friends for years. We always have a good time when we hang out with them!

We went to the Bean Museum - one of my kids favorite places to go (and it's free:)). We had lunch at the BYU Creamery. Highly recommended if you've never eaten there. We also went to brunch at the Grand America Hotel - it's a total splurge, but again highly, highly recommended if you ever get the chance. We barbecued at our house and we went up the canyon to ride 4 wheelers and roast s'mores. We packed a lot of fun in in a short amount of time and it was totally worth it!!!
I just noticed that they even have similar shirts on - these guys have a million crazy stories to tell.
Luke and Dallon are instant best friends whenever we get together!
Mason, Luke, Dallon and Kaycee
Mason loves Kaycee! He always wanted to play with her and hug her (he looks like he's 4 or 5 but he's only 2). It was so cute!

On Memorial Day our kids participated in their first ever kids triathlon. Our great neighbors, Natalie and Steve, invited us to do it with their friends and family. It's something they've put together and done for the last 5 years. It was awesome!!! Kaycee loved the swimming and biking but the running wore her out. When little Mason saw her running toward the finish line - he totally ran up to her and ran the rest of the way with her. It was so cute!!! Luke hated the swimming (he doesn't like swimming in the deep end), was amazing on the bike and liked the run (although he did stop to walk at the end when he was tired). Dallon thought the whole thing was pretty cool. They all had fun and that's what was important!!! If we do it next year I will have my kids practice running and Luke practice swimming;)
Kayc and Luke loved getting "marked" with their numbers.
They all picked good bib numbers.
Here's the whole troop.
Getting ready to start at the pool. This is a hot springs pool so it's really warm. They had to swim the length of the pool.
Here they all are in their totally awesome t-shirts at the finish line. They all did so good and had a blast (everybody was a winner) !!!

Of course what would Memorial Day be without remembering those who came before us and fought for our lives and our freedom. Also to respect our loved ones who have passed on. We lost dear Grandpa Lu last September and it brought fresh tears when we visited his and Grandma Edna's grave.
Kayc and Luke loved Grandpa so much!
Gramma B. was special too. We are glad that she is with Grandpa Adams whom passed on too early in life.

End of School Year Happenings!

The first graders at Harvest Elementary put on a parents program. It was so cute and Luke did a great job! He sang so loud I even heard his voice above the others. Considering that he got braces and an appliance on the roof of his mouth 2 days earlier - he was awesome! I loved to watch him do sign language too.

Gotta love the yawn!!!
